40 years of history is behind the Iranian aquaculture industry. Nowadays, stagnating fishery industry, fast-growing aquaculture production, and the need for this category as one of the supplying sources of healthy proteins for human consumption are the main reasons why aquaculture is becoming the main source of aqua food in most parts of the world. This reality will trigger major opportunities as well as challenges for the aquafeed industry, which accounts for 50% of the production cost in aquaculture operations. Aquafeed represents only 5% of global animal feed volume. Aquaculture’s progress depends on specific nutritional and technological advances in high quality and economical feed formulation. The main challenges are as follow:
- Limited knowledge of nutritional requirements
- Complexity, due to a wide diversity of species and farming conditions
- Sustainable use of marine ingredients
- Minimizing nutrient outputs into the environment
- Optimizing cost-efficiency of feed formulations
- Functional feeds capable of reducing disease risks
With the aim of promotion, development, and improvement in feed quality and assisting producers to meet the challenges, Pars Jivar Soufi® does its best to select and import strategic products from developed and pioneer countries in this industry.
