A Complex Containing Multiple Barriers to Stop/Control Salmonella
One of the major concerns of feed producers, farmers and final consumer is feed and environment microorganisms. Raw materials and complementary feed are potential carriers for pathogenic microorganisms like Salmonella, Ecoli, Streptococcus, Clostridium etc…. In addition to Salmonella and Ecoli, other bacteria such as Listeria and Campylobacter are considered as a growing concern because of their effects on man’s health and the resistance accrued against antibiotics in this group. Forbidden use of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in animal feed which is applied in the European Union and some parts of Asia puts a lot of pressure on feed producers and farmers.
Due to the high pH in the crop and poor acid production in gizzard, Salmonella can be easily multiplied and transferred into the intestine, where they will attach, colonize and be excreted via faeces and re-infect the others.
Feed Acidifiers are compounds which can lower the feed, stomach and bacterial cytoplasm pH, and therefore inhibit the pathogenic agents in intestinal microflora. The anti-microbial effect of organic acids have been proved, especially when used in synergistic combinations in certain amounts.
ConSept® CF60 contains multiple barriers to stop and control Salmonella in poultry. It is a blend of organic acids and salts specially designed to control pathogenic bacterial in raw material and feed.
